Environmental Toxins Report - Part 3 of 3 of Toxin Report

I am glad to see out of the 9 toxins tested only 3 were at HIGH levels.  I still want to get the 6 that are at MODERATE down in the green, but it’s encouraging to have less

Sources of above toxins:  Fuel fumes from car when filling up and after, also exhaust of which I am super sensitive to and… CLOTHES!  CLOTHES?  YEP!

So the term “plastic clothes” is a thing! And these pictures are a bit extreme, but I thought they were funny!  Anyway, I have a lot of “plastic” clothes and blankets.  I have enjoyed the clothes and blankets that are so SOFT to the touch.  They are SO COZY!  Well, I heard of plastic clothes before my diagnosis, but didn’t give it much attention or concern.  After my diagnosis, I was reading in all the natural healing resources the importance and benefits of natural fibers vs. synthetic.  Examples of synthetic “plastic” fibers are rayon, polyester, nylon, microfiber, spandex, etc.  So, I started thinning out my wardrobe of plastic clothes and watched for the preferable “organic” natural materials which are hecka expensive!  So, I figure non-organic natural materials are better than plastic.  Then I get these test results and learn that, maybe I better take it even more seriously, so it’s on my bucket list to do another round of thinning out my wardrobe of more plastic clothing.  Can I just say that I MISS REAL JEANS!!!! I have been saying lately that I wish I still had my 501’s from the 1980’s - I can’t find jeans like that anymore!

If plastic clothes aren't hard enough, it’s hard to find food that isn’t wrapped in plastic at the stores these days.  In the past, I haven’t given it much thought and it all seems fine enough, until my report shows Perchlaorate (PERC) off the chart!!!  What is Perchlorate?  I wondered that, too.

Perchlorate (PERC)

Perchlorate (PERC) is a naturally occurring and man-made anion and is a powerful oxidizing agent. It is mainly used for propellants in rocket fuel as well as control static electricity in food packaging. Perchlorate may be accumulated into vegetables through water cycle and other parts in the environment. Perchlorate contamination in food and water has been found to be harmful for human health. Perchlorate is classified as a possible carcinogen. It may disrupt the thyroid’s ability to produce hormones. It has also been linked with lung toxicity and aplastic anemia.

Public Service Announcement --- If you are dealing with thyroid issues (as I am) you may want to reconsider the plastics that your groceries are sold in, as I am.

So, there you have it.  When we get that good deal from places like Costco or our veggies from Trader Joe’s in the plastic bags, not only do we get plastic particles in our food that is packaged in plastic, but we also get to ingest perchlorate, so they can control static electricity in the packaging.  This was a new one for me.  Being that I buy A LOT of veggies in plastic packaging, I suppose it makes sense this toxin would be so high in my system.  So, it’s another shift in my shopping.

So, let’s take a look at the MODERATE environmental toxins that I am dealing with.

Sources of the above: Plastics, coatings on the inside of many food and beverage cans, thermal paper such as that used in sales receipts, paints, coatings, cosmetics, adhesives, detergents, automotive plastics, plastic clothes, food, air, etc.

So, when we see reports that the average person has PBA’s etc. in their body it seems to be true… these toxins are everywhere around us.  So, we can minimize as much as we can, but we can’t get fully away from them.  This just leads me to the idea that detoxing is something to have on the radar and to be active in.  I have been collecting information on detoxing and that’s a whole subject on it’s own.  The body naturally detoxes all day and every day, but there are things we can be doing to support our body in doing it’s job and help it maximize the detox process. I mean, there is no other time in history that we have had the amount of environmental toxins in our world that we have now.  I will leave what I am learning there for another blog post.

If you are like me and have been hearing more and more about “forever” plastics that don’t purge out of our bodies and the concern over that, then you might be wondering what there is to do about that.  I don’t know those answers, but I was encouraged to read a brief article that scientists are now believing they have found a way that the body can and does detox those.  Did I keep that article?  No! Darn it! But, I thought it was interesting that a friend recently told me that her ND was telling her about this new discovery, so I imagine we will be hearing more about that in the near future.

So, back around 2009 I did some toxins testing, but nothing quite this thorough.  I didn’t know what to do with it, and I didn’t know how to communicate with my doctor at that time about it, so I figured it would all be fine. He would sound the alarm if there was something to be alarmed about.  He put me on some binders and life moved on and I thought all would be fine, not really understanding how things work. Also, not understanding how to advocate for myself.  I can find myself thinking things like “Wow! If I would have only…” but I quickly remind myself that isn’t helpful thinking and I choose to be thankful I am able to address it today.  A friend who healed from cancer a number of years ago shared with me that “cancer is the last line of defense” for the body.  It’s the body’s way of seriously getting our attention if we haven’t been paying attention.  His statement echoes in my mind every so often, and it reminds me to be very thankful that our Father God created life exactly how He did.  We are truly fearfully and wonderfully made.  He is a good Father!

As I have shared in the previous posts about my Tox Report…  we continue this next phase of this journey, trusting the Lord for cleaning out my system, for healing me, and for financial provision to get back out of this medical debt we have found ourselves in.

In the meantime, prayer requests continue to be:

  • that my body would respond well to the detoxing and begin to heal in new ways,

  • that we would find the sources of the all the toxins that are entering my body

  • for financial provision as we navigate this next phase of my healing journey

  • and in the end be able to help and support others in multiple ways including financially.

We continue to be grateful for those of you who have checked in on us, prayed for us, and who have given us financial support personally and/or through our Go Fund Me, we remember you often and thank the Lord for you often, saying a prayer for you.
